After
having studied at the Dijon Conservatory (with Raphaëlle DES GRAVIERS) and
in PARIS (with Dominique HOPPENOT), Jean-Claude BOUVERESSE entered the
ROYAL CONSERVATORY in BRUSSELS where he was awarded the first prize for
violin in Endre GERTLER’s class. He was a resident for three years at the
CHAPELLE MUSICALE de la REINE ELIZABETH de BELGIQUE, where he studied
violin, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, music history and
art history. At the same lime he completed his studies of the classical
letters and philosophy at the SORBONNE in PARIS.
He quickly concentrated on chamber music, which has
become his area of predileclion. After having earned his teaching
certificate at the Ecole Nationale de Musique de GENNEVILLIERS, he has
taught chamber music there since 1981.
Jean-Claude BOUVERESSE became a member of the ENSEMBLE ORCHESTRAL DE PARIS
in 1983. In 1987 he founded his own chamber music ensemble, the KAMMER
ENSEMBLE DE PARIS. He has given numerous concerts with this ensemble of
strings (string octet and double bass) and winds (wind quintet) and has
recorded twelve CDs, featuring well-known compositions (MOZART, BEETHOVEN,
BRAHMS, STRAUSS, WAGN-ER, SCHOENBERG) as well as more neglected works
(NIELSEN, HARSANYI, DELAGE, JAUBERT, NOVAK, KOECHLIN).
