After having studied at the Dijon Conservatory (with Raphaëlle DES GRAVIERS) and in PARIS (with Dominique HOPPENOT), Jean-Claude BOUVERESSE entered the ROYAL CONSERVATORY in BRUSSELS where he was awarded the first prize for violin in Endre GERTLER’s class. He was a resident for three years at the CHAPELLE MUSICALE de la REINE ELIZABETH de BELGIQUE, where he studied violin, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, music history and art history. At the same lime he completed his studies of the classical letters and philosophy at the SORBONNE in PARIS.

He quickly concentrated on chamber music, which has become his area of predileclion. After having earned his teaching certificate at the Ecole Nationale de Musique de GENNEVILLIERS, he has taught chamber music there since 1981.

Jean-Claude BOUVERESSE became a member of the ENSEMBLE ORCHESTRAL DE PARIS in 1983. In 1987 he founded his own chamber music ensemble, the KAMMER ENSEMBLE DE PARIS. He has given numerous concerts with this ensemble of strings (string octet and double bass) and winds (wind quintet) and has recorded twelve CDs, featuring well-known compositions (MOZART, BEETHOVEN, BRAHMS, STRAUSS, WAGN-ER, SCHOENBERG) as well as more neglected works (NIELSEN, HARSANYI, DELAGE, JAUBERT, NOVAK, KOECHLIN).
